As part of its continued commitment to improving its green footprint, Ufford Park Woodbridge Hotel, Golf and Spa has announced that it has installed two electric car charging points in its main car park.  The electric vehicle charging points are provided and managed by EV Driver, a Suffolk-based supplier that is committed to the reduction of CO2 emissions through its network of charging points.

The EV Driver ports are available to everyone, you don’t have to be a guest of the hotel to use them.  There is plenty to do at Ufford Park while users wait for their car to charge, what better way to pass the time than by enjoying a cup of Paddy and Scott’s coffee and a slice of cake? Alternatively, grab a spot of lunch or visit the driving range, gym, spa, or even by play a game of adventure golf at Congo Rapids!

Ufford Park’s car charging points are listed on all national registers and can be located by using Zap Map where the UK’s 6,153 public charge points can be found, this enables electric vehicle drivers to locate the closest charging points to their current location.  According to figures published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) electric car sales in the UK have risen dramatically over the past few years.  During the first half of 2014 there were only about 500 electric cars registered per month, this has risen to an average of more than 4,800 registrations a month for 2018 so far.  Figures up to the end of July 2018 show that the plug-in car market makes up 2.3 per cent of all new cars sold in the UK.

Tarnia Robertson, Managing Director at Ufford Park comments, “With consumers becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, the use of electric cars is rapidly increasing in the UK and represents the future of driving.  With more than 160,000 registered electric vehicles in the UK* Ufford Park wants to be part of this movement towards energy aware driving by providing customers that have electric cars, the opportunity to charge their vehicles on the hotel premises.”

Linda Grave, Co-Founder and CEO of EV Driver adds, “We are so pleased to have units installed at Ufford Park.  This is our first installation at a leisure complex such as theirs and we hope it will attract new users to the EV Driver network.  This installation demonstrates Ufford Park’s forward-thinking approach, its commitment to improving its green credentials and contributes towards making Suffolk the greenest county.”

EV Driver is a pay as you go system with no subscription charges or annual fees for using the network.
