Three finalists in the East of England are in the running to win one of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence. The Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. For over 40 years, they have and continue to celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society.
There are 78 finalists across 13 categories, in the East of England they are:
- Great Kneighton (Countryside Properties (UK) Ltd) – 2,5000 home mixed use development on land adjacent to Trumpington Village in Cambridge with improved access to the countryside, enhanced facilities and enriched biodiversity (Excellence in Plan Making Practice)
- Diss Heritage Triangle (Diss Heritage Triangle Trust CIO) – a project – delivered jointly by the local authority, businesses, charities and the community – to reshape and rejuvenate the historic East Anglian market town using its history and social culture to re-establish its identity and counter the decline in traditional high street (Excellence in Planning for Heritage and Culture)
- Caddington Woods (Bidwells) – a community led residential development of 325 homes and a community hub to the west of Luton and east of Dunstable in Bedfordshire (Excellence in Planning for Homes – Large Schemes)
