Innovation Lab launches in Stowmarket

A brand-new innovation and business hub arrived in Stowmarket on Thursday 14th November 2019. Over the last four years, Peter Brady, CEO of local award-winning digital agency, Orbital Media, has been leading the development of an innovation cluster in the town. He is now delighted to introduce ‘Innovation Labs’, together with local businesspeople Peter Basford, founder and CEO of Business Growth Coaches Network (BGCN), and Hermione Way, Brand Consultant and former head of European communications for Tinder.

Supported by Mid Suffolk District Council, Tech East and the New Anglia LEP, Innovation Labs offers coworking space, with the aim of fostering:

·       Innovation

·       Entrepreneurship

·       Business growth

·       Development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence.

The initiative is strategically located only a few minutes’ walk from Stowmarket Train Station and will form the focal point for further developing the town’s world leading cluster of technology and manufacturing companies. Innovation Labs will offer coworking space that overlooks the scenic River Gipping, access to cutting edge technology, business support services, funding advice and business development opportunities.

Peter Brady, CEO at Orbital Media, comments, ‘Innovation Labs is a pioneering, coworking space and innovation hub concept; we will be offering a completely unique blend of world leading support, advice and facilities, to nurture regional innovation and business growth.

He continues, ‘Stowmarket is a thriving Suffolk town with innovation, technology and entrepreneurship at its heart. A strong base of high-tech businesses is already resident, developing cutting edge products and services across a range of technologies such as artificial intelligence, gamification, virtual reality, digital media, clean energy supply and software development. Our aim is for Innovation Labs to build on this success by supporting entrepreneurship, business growth, innovation and the development of advanced skills. This will help create high value jobs and put money back into the local economy.’

Fiona Duhamel, Mid Suffolk’s Assistant Director Economic Development and Regeneration, says, ‘The creation of the Innovation Hub is an exciting step towards making Stowmarket a key technology location. We are committed to providing a supportive space for upcoming tech businesses looking for a base to develop and expand their operations and, by becoming an Innovation Centre of Excellence, we hope to support local industry, attract new business, and also raise the aspiration of our young people – providing access to new technology and the opportunities it brings on their doorstep.’
