A bird, bee and bug-friendly golf club has been shortlisted in a prestigious award scheme celebrating the best in the industry.
Ufford Park Hotel, Golf and Spa has reached the finals of the Golf Environment Awards, which is celebrating its 25th Anniversary.
The Operation Pollinator Award recognises golf clubs across the country who consistently deliver the outstanding creation and management of ecological habitats.
Managing director, Tarnia Robertson said: “To have been named a finalist in this category for the second time in three years is a fantastic achievement.
“Our dedicated team of greenkeepers work hard to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The golf course is teaming with wildlife thanks to the bird boxes, bee hives and bug hotel that have been built to provide a habitat for nature. We have also built a reservoir for irrigation and we only use organic feeds to feed our greens to minimise the use of chemicals.
“Since being awarded runner up in 2018, the golf team have taken the judges feedback on board and I’m very proud of the hotel’s achievements.
“We hope this time we will take the crown!”
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 22nd January 2020 at The Crown Hotel in Harrogate.
