In the week when the Ipswich/Norwich football derby took place, two Suffolk companies were working collaboratively across the administrative boundary on a prestigious project in Norfolk’s county town.

Barking-based DAB Group, a successful family run construction company, and in particular its civil engineering subsidiary, has been contracted to deliver the ground works and externals package for the open space areas in current phase of the St Anne’s Wharf project in Norwich.

Lying between King Street and the riverside, the area has been derelict since the 1990s, but is now subject to an £80m regeneration scheme which, once completed, will transform the area into an attractive mixed-use site, including 437 homes and 22,000 square feet of commercial space.

Poundfield Products Ltd. the Suffolk-based, market leading precast concrete manufacturer, part of SigmaRoc PLC an AIM-listed company, was in turn contracted by DAB Group to design and supply 33 bespoke L-shaped units for the wall separating the development from the River Wensum.

In addition, over the next few weeks Poundfield will also be manufacturing and delivering a finished set of steps and seating for the same part of the development.

Tim Evans, Poundfield’s director – bespoke products, said: “The tasks set us by DAB Group perfectly match our core skills set: using our manufacturing expertise and processes to pinpoint measure and manufacture exactly what is required by the client and to do so on time.

I’m proud of what Poundfield has achieved here for this iconic Norwich project and hold no grudges whatsoever about the football result!”

Chris Cooper, DAB Group’s contracts manager added: “The St Anne’s Wharf redevelopment is a vital piece in the redevelopment jigsaw for Norwich city centre. We are delighted to have been playing a key role and are very pleased indeed with Poundfield’s high quality contributions to this success story.”
