Norfolk Enterprise Festival: Showcasing entrepreneurial spirit
The Norfolk Enterprise Festival is a coming together of Norfolk entrepreneurs, SME’s, start-ups, investors and their families to connect, celebrate, learn and discover the hidden entrepreneurial gems our county has to offer.
The event takes stimulating, exciting and innovative business workshops, talks and discussions, and places them in a field, to create a unique enterprise festival – one of the only enterprise festivals in the UK!
Each year the festival changes location to increase its reach to rural local businesses. The first took place in 2018, at WestAcre in Kings Lynn and this year the festival will be held at Hoveton Hall on Saturday 13 July, 11am – 10pm.
Organised by a group of local entrepreneurs, for local entrepreneurs, the idea for the Norfolk Enterprise Festival was originally conceived by George Freeman MP and Mark Lapping, along with a group of other founding members from the Norfolk business community. Their mission, to find a creative and fun way to showcase Norfolk as a powerhouse of entrepreneurial activity and demonstrate the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit the county has to offer.
The festival provides the opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs to come together and learn from one another, access business support and advice to propel them into taking that next step.
Throughout the day attendees can be inspired by talks from business leaders, participate in interactive workshops, hear from curated expert panels, network with investment angels’, have free one-to-one business advice sessions, take part in creative workshops (for all ages), and more.
This year the festival will include a Norfolk Marketplace, which invites local makers to showcase their Norfolk made and produced, flavours and textures. And, leading on from last year’s success, the Angel’s Den will be a prominent feature at this year’s event too. Sponsored by Mills & Reeve and Grant Thornton, the Angel’s Den invites local entrepreneurs to pitch their business ideas with the chance to win £10,000 worth of business support.
Attendees are encouraged to bring along their whole family with homegrown arts and culture and interactive workshops and activities all woven throughout the day.
This year the theme for the festival is ‘Sustainability’.
This includes:
• Sustainability within our business
• Sustainability within our places and the environment
• Human sustainability and wellbeing
Talks at the festival will respond to this broad theme, while inviting the audience to contribute their thoughts and actionable offers on the issues surrounding sustainability throughout the day.
The festival is supported by its very own interactive NEF app which aims to create a living network of Norfolk-based entrepreneurs, business groups, investors and SMEs. This app will be released six weeks before the festival so attendees can prepare to get the most out of the day.
