Ellisons Solicitors announces merger with Gross & Co. extending its reach to West Suffolk and beyond

Leading law firm, Ellisons Solicitors, has announced a merger with Bury St Edmunds-based firm Gross & Co. This merger will give Ellisons a London base and a second office in Suffolk having established its Ipswich office five years ago.  Ellisons now has seven offices in total, including its head office in Colchester.

Following the success of the Ipswich office, which is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, Ellisons has been keen to expand its presence in the county. Integral to its success is Ellisons’ commitment to delivering excellent client service from start to finish; an ethos shared by Gross & Co.

Established in 1848, Gross & Co. will bring a high level of complementary expertise and 25 additional staff into the Ellisons ‘fold’.  With its reputation for immigration and charity law, Gross & Co will help to bolster Ellisons’ offering nationally and internationally, and the newly-merged entity will be known as ‘Ellisons incorporating Gross & Co.’ for an initial period.

All current staff at Gross & Co. will continue in their roles and remain in the Grade II-listed premises on Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds.  Senior Partner, Graeme Kirk and Finance Partner, Sohan Sidhu will continue as Partners, while Elizabeth Hodder will remain in her role as head of the Family team in Bury St Edmunds.  Graeme Kirk will also take a place on Ellisons’ Management Board, the body responsible for the firm’s overall management and strategy.

Guy Longhurst, Managing Partner at Ellisons said: “We are delighted to be announcing this merger with Gross & Co., not least because there is so much synergy between our firms. We truly believe that our respective service offerings and firm cultures are as near perfect a match as you’ll ever find. Bury St Edmunds is a fantastic location, and having previously acquired Wanham Longhurst & Co., my father’s firm, we are confident that our new and existing clients and colleagues will benefit from the greater opportunities and services presented by the merger with Gross & Co.”
