Manufacturing: Pioneer Pump

In 2023, having become a major industry player worldwide, we successfully relocated to a large, modern site in Hadleigh – a significant expansion which marked a new chapter for the company.

As manufacturers of specialist mining, quarry, dewatering, oil, and gas pumps for a range of industrial and marine applications, Pioneer’s products are distributed across the world, both through its sales and rental division. All our pumps can be powered by diesel or electric, and we are also working to explore alternative fuel solutions, including hydrogen, hybrid, battery, and solar storage technology.

Building a future

Moving from 10,000sqft to two modern 33,000sqft units, our new facility has transformed how we operate. With a modern warehouse, full accessibility, and a production facility, we have significantly improved our processes, boosting operational efficiency and ensuring the company is well-equipped to meet growing demand while continuing to innovate.

By repurposing the brownfield site, we minimised the use of new materials and we have refurbished using energy-efficient features – including LED motion-activated lighting and infrared heating – to align with Pioneer’s ethos of sustainability.

The new building also includes a training and education area. This ‘Pump School’ will offer hands-on learning about Pioneer’s high-efficiency pumps, from energy-saving designs to maintenance and repair techniques, solidifying our position as an indispensable partner to our customers.

And there is more to come. We have only developed one warehouse so far and have big plans for growth over the next five years which will see us in an even stronger position.

Powerful performance

Our work covers a variety of applications, from pumps that jet a channel in the seabed to lay cables, to powerful submersible dewatering solutions specifically designed for the mining industry. Some feature a solar charging facility and a telemetry function to monitor and control the pump remotely. Some are used in extreme circumstances.

A new chapter of growth and innovation 1Following two eruptions of Iceland’s Sundhnúkagígar volcano in February, Pioneer delivered four high-capacity pumps only eight weeks after the order was placed, providing water to support the volcanic response efforts underway in extreme heat conditions.

We also provide pumps for flooding in the UK and internationally, protecting infrastructure and communities in extreme weather events. For instance, in April, where cloud seeding led to a months’ worth of rain falling in just two days in the Middle East, we provided hundreds of pumps – designed for reliability and performance – to help divert the floodwater quickly and effectively.
