Insurance: Rob Thacker, Sona Insurance Solutions
Insurance has always been based on trust. Indeed, the very principle underpinning policies is utmost good faith. The products designed for insurance are made to deliver peace of mind by transferring risk from the client to the insurer. At Sona Insurance Solutions, we believe that if we don’t embody these values, then we are undermining the very core of insurance. That is why we make clarity, transparency and trusted relationships the foundation of everything we do.
Our mission is to invest in our people to reward our clients. While on the surface, this may not seem client-centric enough, its very foundation is built around our clients. Quality of service comes from a deep understanding within the team that trust, transparency and openness are critical, especially when it comes to insurance arrangements.
How we build differently
It is common now for brokers and insurers to rely heavily on automated solutions and email exchanges. Technology definitely has its place, but relationships are built by talking, listening and understanding. Due to this, we dedicate significant time to speaking directly with our clients, to ensure we truly understand their risks and can present insurers with accurate, material information.
The benefit is twofold: clients know that when a claim arises they have someone on their side, and insurers know they are underwriting the correct information.
Tailored insurance is rarely achieved through a one-size-fits-all policy. It’s created through conversations, detail and trust – something we take pride in at Sona Insurance Solutions.
When trust makes the difference
Over the years, I’ve experienced countless situations where trust has made a significant difference. One of my longest-standing clients for almost two decades faced a serious near-miss incident that could have resulted in life-changing injuries for a team member. When they called, it wasn’t just to report what had happened but to have an honest, open discussion about what could be learned and how to prevent a recurrence. Due to our trusted relationship, that conversation was candid, productive and potentially lifesaving. Moments like these remind me why trust and transparency aren’t just business principles; they have a real impact on people’s lives.
Defining strong relationships
There are a lot of factors involved, but for me, a strong client relationship is one where nothing is off the table. Confidentiality is key, but so is openness between client and insurer. It is critical that clients feel they can discuss anything with us. This has often led to debates in our office about where friendship and client relationships start and finish. Over time, these professional relationships often evolve into genuine friendships, because when people trust one another, business feels more personal.
At Sona Insurance Solutions, we are proud to have many clients who not only see us as their insurance brokers, but also as a trusted partner and ally.
