David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds appoints General Manager

David Lloyd Clubs has appointed Kristen Westwood as General Manager for the highly anticipated new health, fitness and wellness Club, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds opening at Marham Park in winter 2024.

Kristen Westwood will be overseeing preparations for the new Club opening this winter, as well as supporting its recruitment drive to fill 75 jobs in hospitality, fitness, and spa roles throughout the Club.

Kristen Westwood joins David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds from a previous General Manager role at David Lloyd Fulham, which has recently reopened after a huge £7million investment.

Speaking about his appointment, Kristen said: “I am delighted to have been appointed General Manager for the new Club in Bury St Edmunds and I look forward to growing a thriving community of members.

“The new Club will provide members with world-class facilities ranging from our state-of-the-art gym equipment to the relaxing Spa Retreat, and an extensive suite of Group Exercise classes, including BLAZE which is a personal favourite of mine.

“The facilities available at David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds provide something for everyone, no matter your age or ability, and I look forward to joining our new members on their health and wellbeing journey.”

In addition to the 100+ station gym that sits at the heart of the new Club, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds will offer a wide range of Signature group exercise classes, including the popular family group classes, David Lloyd REBELS.

‘REBELS’ is a family-friendly adaptation of the Clubs’ exclusive range of Signature classes, aimed at parents and children aged between eight and fourteen years. providing families the opportunity to exercise together allowing them to enhance their health and fitness, while spending quality time together. 

The new Club will also feature indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and padel courts, expert tennis and swimming coaching for adults and children, and a timetable packed with kids activities and sports coaching.

A luxurious indoor and outdoor Spa Retreat, showcasing David Lloyd Clubs’ Signature wellness offering, will include a variety of unique experiences and rooms such as a Himalayan Salt Sauna, a Rainforest Experience Shower, a revitalizing citrus steam room, a serene ice cave, a plunge pool, and a hydrotherapy pool.

On top of health, fitness and wellbeing facilities, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds will house a stylish outdoor terrace and Clubroom that will provide the perfect setting to relax with friends and family. Memberships for the new David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds opened to the public on June 1 and there has already been a high level of interest from locals, many of whom have already secured their membership.
