The Tech East 100 is a new initiative led by Tech East and backed by Suffolk and Norfolk local authorities, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, BT, and a range of local sponsors. The list aims to highlight some of the best tech businesses in the region and support their plans for growth.
PolicyBee’s inclusion on the list was announced at a virtual event held on 17 September 2020 with opening remarks on the future of ‘Geek Anglia’ provided by actor Stephen Fry. Nineteen expert judges compiled the diverse list of 100 companies. They looked for exciting start-ups, established market leaders and local businesses achieving success on a global scale or pioneering new technologies.
Caroline Dinenage MP, Minister for Digital and Culture, joined the event to congratulate those companies on the list and acknowledge their part in contributing to the region’s growth, noting that the East of England is currently one of the biggest growth areas for tech in the UK.
Founder of PolicyBee, Iain Hatfield, reacted to the news: “I’m incredibly proud that PolicyBee has been included in the first ever Tech East 100 list, alongside so many other fantastic local businesses. Since sowing the seeds for the first quote-and-buy-online business insurance company from my garden shed back in 2001, we’ve designed and built our own tech to become a fully-fledged 21st century broker. Our aim has always been to use tech to make life easier for our customers.
“I’m thrilled to see Tech East promote East Anglia as a region for tech companies to thrive. PolicyBee is looking forward to making new connections in the tech industry and receiving support from Tech East over the next year. Well done to all the companies on the Tech East 100 list!”
