Is technology putting your business at risk?

As a managed service provider, we provide IT support and solutions for businesses large and small, across Suffolk and beyond. And in my many years of experience, the biggest insight I have gained is that you can’t have a ‘one size fits all’ approach.

IT: Two Point Zero

Each business and each client is unique, with different needs, rules, regulations, financial resources and strategies.

So, our relationship doesn’t start with an estimate for the work, it starts with a conversation.

Before we talk about anything to do with technology or IT, I ask them about the business: what they do, who they deal with, what they already have in place and what they want to achieve. That’s how we build up a complete picture and make use of technology in the best way possible. We have to work backwards with what they’ve got, what they need, what’s most important – and build it up from there.

But that’s just the first step. Then we need to make sure that it is being used in a secure way.

Staying cyber safe

Cyber security is a huge part of what we do for clients.

In fact, sometimes our first contact is when a company has had a cyber-attack and all hell has broken loose! But prevention is better than cure.

So, how can you protect yourself?

The biggest risk is through people not using IT effectively. We can put protections in place, but if you’ve got a member of staff who isn’t doing things correctly, then that’s putting your business at risk.

Ask yourself: are the correct permissions in place for external employees using SharePoint or other online platforms? Is confidential data being managed properly? If someone clicks on a dodgy email link and opens the door for a virus, how is that going to impact your business?

More recently, it could even be that someone has put confidential information into AI!

There should be rules in place to regulate your IT and your systems, so things like that are avoided. For example, multifactor authentication should be in place for absolutely everything, where possible. It’s a non-negotiable. Then there are passkeys, fingerprint identification and other things you can do.

That’s where we come in.

And that is why we look at your business as a whole – what you do day-to-day, what programs you use, how you use them – and we build a strategy from there. We even run penetration testing where we try and hack the system to identify weak points. And we can look at educating your employees by running phishing simulations and providing ongoing training.

Of course, the landscape is constantly changing and we need to keep pace with it, so we stay up to date with our training too, and we go to industry events to see what the future holds for IT.

That way, we can keep building our services and provide valuable insights to keep clients protected.

We know it can be scary, but we are here to help.

Let’s start the conversation. We might just click…
