Protecting your Data: Firevault
Even more strikingly, 96% of businesses are concerned about at least one cyber threat.1
Those figures should resonate in every boardroom.
When cyber is mentioned, our instinct is often to turn to the people around us. We ask the IT team whether systems are secure, advisers whether we are compliant, insurers whether we are covered and staff to complete another round of training. All of those things matter, but they do not remove the responsibility from leadership to act.
Advisers advise. Technical teams defend. Employees follow the processes set. Leaders lead.
Our role is not to understand every firewall rule or security platform. It is to decide what matters most to the business, what it cannot afford to lose and whether we have done enough to protect it.
The consequences of getting that wrong are now impossible to ignore. Marsh (the global insurance broker) highlights one ransomware attack that closed online stores for more than a month at an estimated cost of £300m. Another disruption affected 5k suppliers and caused losses of at least £1.9 billion.1
Cyber is no longer simply an IT issue. It is a test of governance, continuity and control.
What are we really protecting?
Behind every system sits something more valuable: contracts, customer records, intellectual property, board papers, legal files, financial evidence and the information required to keep trading.
Yet the 2026 Thales Group’s Data Threat Report found that only 34% of organisations have complete knowledge of where their data is stored and only 39% can classify all of it. Organisations use an average of seven tools for data protection and monitoring, but only 39% are confident they understand those tools.2
More technology does not always mean more control.
For years, businesses have worked towards making information available from anywhere, at any time. That has made collaboration easier, but it has also made that information vulnerable.
Offline secure storage asks a different question: does our most valuable data really need to remain online all the time?
That is why we built Firevault. It provides secure, governed and auditable offline secure storage for the valuable, vulnerable and sensitive information an organisation cannot afford to lose. Because recovering from a loss does not start with servers. It starts with trusted data.
Every Business Recovery Plan assumes there will be clean data to recover from, and while offline secure storage does not replace cyber security tools, it complements them by preserving a clean, controlled starting point for recovery.
In short, the organisations that recover fastest will be the ones whose leaders identified what mattered most and protected it before it was needed.
