Navigating Your Business Through Coronavirus
It is fair to say that this a pretty dark time for businesses not just in Suffolk, but all around the world. It is a dark time in two senses. The first is that we are constantly being updated with current death tolls and reminders of how infectious and dangerous this virus is. The second, and perhaps most anxiety-inducing, is that we are all in the dark as to when this pandemic might come to an end and what effect it may have upon our personal and professional lives.
However, it is not all doom and gloom. There is plenty of help available online for businesses searching for guidance “if one only remembers to turn on the light” (knows where to look). In our region, there is one crucial pool of resources that you should be aware of if you find yourself swamped with accessing government funds, setting employees up remotely or any one of the myriad changes that have so suddenly been thrust upon us.
Where Can I Find Help?
The Institute of Directors (IoD) East has recently announced a series of resources to help you navigate your business, staff and clients through these challenging times. We are here to support, represent and set standards for business leaders throughout Suffolk and the East of England.
What’s on Offer?
A Coronavirus Support Hub has been set up which has a wealth of information about accessing government support, guidance on relevant issues such as remote working and materials such as mental wellbeing resources.
We are asking members to complete a survey so that you can tell us what you need, and that your views can be heard and relayed to government representatives through our policy team. This is the forum to express any comments or concerns you have regarding COVID-19 and the impact on your business.
An Information & Advisory Service has also been made available. This resource acts as a helpline covering UK and European law and UK tax. The service provides business information, advice for directors and provides a channel through which to talk through ideas to drive business forward after the Coronavirus pandemic.
We are really proud to have launched a range of webinars to enable our members to connect with fellow business leaders in Suffolk and beyond through connected lunches and expert-led workshops. You can take part live or watch back later.
During these extraordinary times, we have a commitment to our members to provide them with as much information, direction, empathy and support as we are able to deliver. I hope that we can indeed bring some light to business leaders in the days, weeks and months ahead.
