LOCAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES CELEBRATE AWARD SUCCESS

Watched on by over 350 guests representing the county’s construction industry, the RIBA Suffolk Design and Craftsmanship Awards have been presented at the annual SJCC (Suffolk Joint Construction Committee) supper held at Trinity Park.

The awards aim to recognise both the best architecture in the county and the Suffolk based teams who have delivered them, and Ipswich-based structural engineering design business, Superstructures, is celebrating after three of the projects it has been involved in picked up awards.

They were:

The Nest’, Bury St Edmunds.

Built by TJ Evers and designed by Hoopers Architects, the new SEND unit at St Edmunds Catholic Primary School won the RIBA Suffolk Design Award for 2023.

A Barnes Construction development of six individual houses that was designed by Wincer Kievenaar Architects, received the RIBA Suffolk Craftmanship Award – Large Project, under the New Building category.

Also under the New Building category, and again designed by Wincer Kievenaar Architects, this one-off residential dwelling, which was built by Birch Construction for Seven Property, won the RIBA Suffolk Craftmanship Award for Best Domestic Building.

James Potter is Managing Director of Superstructures. He was delighted that his team played their part in the projects that were recognised by the industry. He commented, “The SJCC Awards supper is always a great opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues in the sector. Recognition through these awards demonstrates that the best projects are those that are delivered as a real collaborative effort by the whole construction team.”
