Based in the Marham Park area north of the town, the club’s launch event provided a special opportunity for founder members and local VIPs, including Bury St Edmunds Mayor, Councillor Diane Hind, to join the David Lloyd Clubs team for an exclusive look around the new facilities.
Councillor Hind cut the ribbon to celebrate the official opening alongside 200 of the Club’s members who secured their membership in the very first membership releases. Guests were also invited for a unique preview of the Club to thank them for their support.
Speaking at the event, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds’ General Manager Kristen Westwood said: “The support has been fantastic and it’s great to see so many members of the local community embrace the new Club and join us here today. It’s an honour to be General Manager and I can’t wait to see our community grow.
“I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who has spent so long working behind the scenes to deliver this fantastic new facility for the town.”
David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds has been under construction since the end of 2023. The Club features cutting-edge amenities designed to cater to the health and wellness needs of individuals and families alike. The 100+ station gym features the latest fitness technology, including the Intuitive Strength Circuit, which allows members to customise their workouts based on individual needs, and adapts as they grow stronger.
The heated indoor and outdoor pools house David Lloyd Clubs’ Swim Stars programme for children, plus expert coaching for adults, aqua classes, as well as offering family swim times and adult-only lane swimming.
The Club’s market-leading racquet facilities include match-quality tennis and padel courts as well as badminton, pickleball and the exclusive David Lloyd Clubs Tennis Stars junior programme for children.
Bespoke designed group exercise studios will host the full range of David Lloyd Clubs’ Signature group classes. These include BLAZE, SPIRIT, IGN1TE, Battlebox and REBELS; a member favourite where parents, guardians, and children aged 8 and over can exercise together.
In addition to the fitness facilities, the Club’s luxurious adult-only indoor Spa Retreat and Spa Garden, provides a range of unique experiences including a Himalayan Salt Sauna, Rainforest Experience Shower, revitalizing citrus steam room, tranquil ice cave, plunge pool, hydrotherapy pools and more.
On top of the health, fitness, and wellness amenities, David Lloyd Bury St Edmunds features an outdoor terrace and Clubroom including a family space, indoor soft play area for children, and an adult-only Business Lounge. Members can enjoy a delicious menu, freshly made smoothies, coffees, and kids’ meals, all available to order via the David Lloyd Clubs’ App and delivered directly to the tables.
For children, there’s a multi-purpose sports hall, dedicated DL Kids rooms, an on-site crèche as well as kids sports and coaching.
