Small business gains recognition at local awards

A menopause wellness venture has been selected as a Finalist at the prestigious Suffolk Small Business Awards.

In the heart of Suffolk, a quiet revolution is unfolding, led by the resilient and relatable Melissa Neisler Dickinson. Her venture, the Menopause Vitamin Company, has not only redefined nutritional menopause supplements but has also earned her a spotlight as a finalist in the New Small Business category of the prestigious Suffolk Small Business Awards.

Melissa comments: “At the age of 49, life threw me an unexpected curveball that profoundly affected me mentally and physically. Struggling both at work and in my personal life, I was experiencing intense anxiety, joint pain, lack of motivation and brain fog that really hit my confidence, becoming unrecognisable from the person I had been just months before. It wasn’t until the first hot and cold flush that I realised I was going through perimenopause!

I spent endless hours researching available support, which led me to hormone replacement therapy (HRT), greatly alleviating the hot flushes. However, I also found vitamins, minerals, and botanicals that helped with other issues like changes to my hair, skin, nails, energy, and mood. After a year of trial and error, I discovered the perfect blend that worked for me.

So, at the age of 51, I left my thriving hotel management career and a great salary behind to create Vibrancy Blend, which, at the time, was the UK’s first complete all-in-one nutritional supplement without high level plant Oestrogens for perimenopause and menopause. The Menopause Vitamin Company and the Melissa Menopause Support UK Facebook group were born. The feedback has been phenomenal, and I now have so many repeat customers”.

The recent recognition as a finalist at the Suffolk Small Business Awards is a testament to Melissa’s dedication and the positive impact she has made in Suffolk and beyond. This acknowledgment goes beyond business success, recognising the unique challenges faced by women in business dealing with the emotional and physical aspects of menopause, perimenopause, and post-menopause.

The winners of the Small Business Awards will be announced at a grand final taking place on the 11th May at Trinity Park in Ipswich.
