The personal approach comes first

We use plenty of technology to help match ideal candidates to positions with our clients; job boards, social media and our website amplify roles in a way we could never have imagined in days gone by.

Recruitment: Compass Point Recruitment

But while we have embraced tech as much as anyone else, our business remains resolutely people focused. Compass Point Recruitment is committed to our values and people, and our service is very much face-to-face.

Wherever possible, every candidate meets us in person or over a video call, ensuring we can assess their strengths, weaknesses and future job motivations. And it’s only by deep-diving with local companies, preferably by visiting them, that we can genuinely determine who and what they need from a new hire.

Investing time in this way is one of the key drivers of our success and growth.

Working for regional businesses

Knowledge and experience go a long way in recruitment, and we’ve worked with local companies for 28 years.

The fact that much of our growth is attributed to referrals and repeat business suggests our empathetic and honest approach resonates with clients. We work on part-time, temporary, contract and permanent positions, extending from our base in Bury St Edmunds to the rest of Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.

Our purpose is so much more than simply finding you suitable candidates. We want to help your business develop and can help you build a people plan. We take time to understand what you need from a role, helping you craft a job description and a person specification that attracts the best candidates.

We might identify how the role can be filled internally. In other words, we do what’s right for you, even if it means we don’t get a fee immediately. Being honest in this way helps foster long-term relationships; another reason we have been operating successfully for so long.

Technology and recruitment

It would be easy to sit back and let our clients take much of the recruitment responsibility. However, using tech, we can reach a broader range of candidates and, having got to know each of them, can present a highly qualified shortlist each time we win a new instruction.

Discussions with candidates often throw up interesting results. For example, we might discover that a candidate does not enjoy working for larger companies, preferring smaller, owner-run businesses. The candidate may not have thought about this before, but we can point them to more suitable roles during their onboarding registration meeting.

Technology has undoubtedly helped us have a broader reach to attract candidates. However, the matching process, for us, still isn’t tech-led. It’s about the candidate’s personality suiting an organisation’s culture; it identifies the candidate’s job motivations and discusses the client’s team dynamics.

In so doing, we get better results. Everybody wins from our people-first approach to recruitment.
