Giving Back: Floyd Sayers, Artidote
When embraced in the workplace, creativity nurtures the ability to generate new ideas, solve problems in original ways and see possibilities others don’t; it helps people think differently and approach challenges with an open mind; it builds a culture where ideas are welcomed, risk is celebrated and failure is seen as part of the process.
It’s how companies move forward instead of standing still. No creativity? No innovation.
In January 2025, I co-founded Artidote, a dynamic creative arts startup where people can reclaim that innate ability and learn how it can contribute in a practical and genuine way.
My personal experiences, research and study have helped me put together a toolbox of elements which are vital for a positive creative experience – and it starts with having fun! This can’t be forced or mystically manufactured, but it’s the mindset we focus on creating from the very beginning.
Eight ingredients for creativity:
- Create a safe space.
- Enter into a playful and childlike state.
- Allow the time, it shouldn’t be seen as a luxury.
- Lose the fear of making mistakes.
- If you are a perfectionist, try and put this to one side.
- Try different things, experiment.
- Be curious, innovate, adapt and venture out of your comfort zone.
- Humour is important, don’t forget to laugh.
Workshops for businesses
Artidote’s creative workshops can help develop key business skills, such as: creative problem-solving, confident decision-making, resilience and adaptability, focus and productivity, and open mindedness.
We adapt and change our bespoke business groups depending on the brief and measurable outcomes each company is looking for. Team activities can focus on company culture, collaboration, teamwork, leadership and communication, with plenty of opportunities for colleagues to build trust and inspire each other to think differently. They can connect and recharge, and return to work with better ideas, greater clarity and sharper focus.
The best ideas come when your mind is free to wander.
Benefits of creative self-expression
Art encourages self-expression and greater confidence. It improves employee wellbeing and mental health, helps with stress, increases our sense of emotional well-being and feeds into happier and more engaged employees. The takeaways for developing a creative mindset and a new way of operating should not be underestimated. Let us show you how.
