LEP BOOSTS BOARD WITH VOLUNTARY AND CREATIVE SECTOR EXPERTISE
New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership has announced Claire Cullens, Chief Executive of Norfolk Community Foundation, and Pete Joyner, Managing Director at Shorthose Russell and Thissaway, as its newest board members.
The LEP has expanded its membership, increasing the private sector representation on the Board. This move follows recommendations from Government’s LEP Review last year. The new appointments bring the total to 18 board members.
Doug Field, Chair of New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “We welcome Claire and Pete to the Board bringing new skills, knowledge and expertise to the team. We have a tremendous programme of activity to deliver this year, including development of the local industrial strategy, continued business growth and new jobs, and promoting our place putting Norfolk and Suffolk more firmly on the global investment map.”
Claire Cullens has been the Chief Executive of Norfolk Community Foundation since the beginning of 2018 and previously worked as the Foundation’s Development Manager. Claire has a wealth of experience in business development from a varied and international career that included establishing markets for confectionery in both Japan and Russia. She is passionate about making Norfolk a better place for everyone. During her time in Norfolk she has been active in the voluntary sector as a Business Mentor for the Princes Trust, a governor at the Hewett School and recently as a Director of Pro Help.
Claire Cullens said: “I’m looking forward to working in partnership with the key local statutory organisations and private businesses to create a stronger Norfolk and Suffolk, and to share the opportunities and challenges faced by the voluntary and community sector in this forum. It is both an exciting and demanding time to join the LEP and I hope to bring my varied experiences from an international and local career to make a difference.”
Pete Joyner began his career working in public relations in London and Cambridge before returning to Norwich in the mid-2000s. He is Managing Director of marketing communications agency Shorthose Russell, leading the growth of the agency and its sister travel and tourism arm Thissaway. He has extensive experience of delivering communication and digital strategies for local, regional and international brands across the private and public sector.
Pete Joyner said: “I’m delighted to be joining New Anglia LEP’s Board. As someone who lives and works in the area, I’m passionate about its success therefore I’m looking forward to playing a role in supporting the LEP’s ambitious plans for growth in Norfolk and Suffolk.”
