Innovating | Elevating | Navigating: Saxon Air
Leading the way
Since 2019, we have championed a strong sustainability agenda that goes far beyond just carbon offsetting. Our comprehensive strategy has delivered remarkable results: a 26.1% reduction in our carbon footprint over two years, achieved through a 35.6% cut in electricity usage and a 4% reduction in gas consumption – proof that change is possible when you choose to challenge industry norms.
Our most audacious move yet? Becoming the UK’s first aviation company to offer truly zero-emissions flight training. With the revolutionary Pipistrel Velis Electro aircraft and installation of the first solar charging plane port at a regional airport, we are not just talking about the future of aviation – we are flying it today. This innovation, combined with our extensive solar array installation in February 2024, has already prevented 132.78 tonnes of CO₂ from entering our atmosphere.
We are disrupting conventional fuel dependencies too. In early 2024, we pushed the boundaries by incorporating over 5,800 litres of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in our helicopter operations. This has resulted in a dramatic 25.36% reduction in Scope 1 emissions compared to the previous year.
Achieving milestones
Furthermore, we have created a culture where sustainability drives every decision, leading to a 32.7% reduction in commuting emissions through innovative solutions like car-sharing and hybrid working. By partnering with Carbonside and StarCB, we offset more than 4,400 tonnes of CO₂ in 2023 alone, supporting environmental projects from India to Indonesia.
Another recent disruptive move was our ‘Electriflying’ campaign with First Bus Norfolk, bringing our sustainable aviation message to the streets on their electric buses. This collaboration by air and ground transportation showcased how cross-industry partnerships amplify sustainable initiatives.
We are also transforming our Business Aviation Centre – Saxon Air’s headquarters – into an ecosystem of environmental innovation. Our tenants share our dedication to sustainability, and we encourage disruptors to collaborate closely with NUNCATS, Old Buckenham, NGAT, and Swift to reshape the industry. Together, these partners are committed to advancing zero-emission solutions throughout East Anglia and across the nation.
At Saxon Air, we understand that true industry disruption requires more than just bold ideas – it demands transparent accountability. That is why we voluntarily participate in both CORSIA and UK ETS emissions reporting, holding ourselves to the highest global standards.
We are proud to be acting on change, proving that sustainability and aviation excellence are not just compatible, they’re inseparable. We are defining the future of aviation, one sustainable innovation at a time.
