It’s easy to convince ourselves that this is leadership. But over time I realised something: if I spend all my energy working in the business, I leave no space to work on the business.

The shift came when I started protecting time to step back. Not to create a huge strategy document, but to ask myself three simple questions:

  • Where are we really heading?
  • What could we do differently to scale, without burning out the team?
  • Who could we partner with to unlock new opportunities?

The answers didn’t always come straight away. But even the act of creating that space changed how I led. Instead of being consumed by today’s problems, I began spotting tomorrow’s possibilities.

For me, strategy isn’t abstract – it’s a habit. A commitment to regularly lift my head from the inbox and think about the bigger picture.

I believe resilience and growth come from balancing the demands of today, with the possibilities of tomorrow. That’s how resilience is built. That’s how growth happens.
