University of East Anglia (UEA) Help to Grow: Management
Kickstart your personal and business development plans by joining UEA’s Help to Grow: Management course with Norwich Business School. Take this step today to equip your business with tools and strategies to bolster your resilience.
Help to Grow: Management is a nationwide course which has only recently been offered in the region; as a member of the Small Business Charter, Norwich Business School is delighted to now offer the course. The initial cohort embarked on the course in November and applications are open now for cohort 3, beginning on 6th February, and cohort 4, starting on 6th March.
This applied course supports managers and leaders of SMEs with 5-249 employees. A 12-week programme, it is designed to fit alongside full-time work commitments and is 90% funded by the Government, meaning the fee payable by participants is £750. 1:1 support is included from a dedicated mentor and participants also benefit from learning from peers and networking. The course is designed to be a mix of participants; business owners, CEOs and senior business leaders who are responsible for operations, finance, marketing and HR, and who bring a diversity of experience from a wide range of sectors.
Created in conjunction with business leaders
Importantly, the course curriculum has been created alongside business leaders and industry experts with expertise in growing businesses. During the course, participants will enhance their management and strategic capabilities, learn how to innovate in their business and adopt digital technologies to boost productivity and operational agility. Upon completion of the course, participants will understand how to develop their value proposition and reach into growth markets, as well as build resilience to future shocks. Crucially, methods to improve employee engagement and elements of responsible business practices are also included. Participants graduate with a bespoke growth plan for their business and, via the alumni programme, will continue to benefit from ongoing learning and networking opportunities in the future.
This is a blended programme, combining interactive online sessions with ‘deep-dive’ in-person workshops. The cohorts have been specifically planned to take the learning to the audience! The current cohort has face-to-face workshops at UEA and future cohorts are planned to see their workshops in locations such as the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) offices in Gorleston and Centrum on the Norwich Research Park.
The Help to Grow course is a great opportunity
Jordon King, Head of Business Development at Delta Fire Ltd, is part of cohort 1 of the course. He said: “The Help to Grow course has been a great opportunity to network with other businesses, whilst learning from enthusiastic leading academics. Throughout the course I have had the opportunity to hear how other businesses have overcome challenges faced when growing and had feedback on our own growth plan from both other businesses, and the tutors.
“The course has also been a good insight into what studying at the UEA full time is like. I highly recommend anyone thinking about taking the course to go for it. It will be an investment well made.”
